Abducted Joshi released

Abducted Amjonga Tea Estate manager Nabin Chandra Joshi has been released by kidnappers after six day at Patgaon area in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

Joshi was kidnapped by unknown miscreants on June 2 evening from Marnoi TE in Kokrajhar district while he was visiting the Tea Estate for labor along with two other colleagues. However, kidnappers released two others, namely Manoharlal Sarma of Goalpara and Pranay Debroy of Chapar. 

Police carried strong search operations after the incidents and able to arrest a cadre of BCF, who was involved with abduction. The cadre was identified as Amit Baraik and following his revealed police conducted search operation along Indo-Bhutan border areas in Kokrajhar district. 

Joshi was serving manager in Amjonga TE in Goalpara district, hailed from Jharkhand, was abducted by some militant cadres of Birsa Commando Force (BCF), which has been ceasefire with government. 

Joshi was released today by abductors around 3 am in the morning at Patgaon area in Kokrajhar after six days of massive search operations launched by police and security forces in the area. Joshi directly left for Guwahati after freed from Kokrajhar.

'Joshi has been released by 3 am and reached his home at Guwahati.During investigation, it has been found that some members of BCF  are involved in the kidnapping', Rajen Singh, SP Kokrajhar said.Efforts are on to apprehend the other culprits involved in the Crime.

After 8-day net services resumes

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. The internet service was found resumed at 9 am that saw smilling and happiness environment amongst the citizens in the region. Earlier, BTC region was made exempted from the disruption of net services from state government on December 10. CAB Row: Five protesters held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. Activists and members from All Assam Nath Yogi Students Union carried out a protest demonstration along the JD Road near District Computer centre in Kokrajhar against the CAB bill and burnt effigies of Sonowal and Sarma. The protestors staged protest demonstration with shouting slogans demanding early withdrawal of the bill. The protestors violated CrPC 144 clamp in the district", said a senior police officer.

AGP to contest in BTC elections

KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday.
