World Environment Day celebrated with great enthusiasm

Tangla College faculties planting saplings on the ocassion of World Environment day at the college campus on Monday.

TANGLA,June 5: 

World Environment Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm by various educational institutions,government offices in and around the town on Monday. Keeping in sync with this years' Connecting People to Nature' , Tangla College also celebrated World Environment Day in College campus by an awareness programme and plantation drive. The awareness meet was presided over by Chandan Baruah. Speaking on the ocassion 

Dr. Prasen Daimari briefed that connection between man and nature has historically been one of imbalance and overuse. In the name of development,scientific advancement the rapid deforestation in developed countries has brought 

imbalance in nature which inturn has brought various negative aspects from changing climates,to rising pollution in metro cities. 

In awareness programme, Swapen Acharjee HOD Chemistry observed that rapid urbanization and 

changing global climate and temparature has brought great concern to nature lovers amd environmentalists globally. 

"We need to appreciate and preserve the beauty of nature.Wildlife crimes and hunting of animals should be curbed which adversely impacts nature." Acharjee added. Earlier the purpose of the meet was conveyed by Anima Bhuyan Baruah Secretary of  Udalguri and Darrang Zone Women Cell Convenor.

The programme which was organised by Tangla College women cell convenor was also attended by the lecturers of the college including Dr. Anjali Chakravorty Vice-Principal ,Meghali M.Narjari Convenor Women cell of the college among others.

Later, each one present on the occasion planted a tree around the college campus, as a part of plantation drive. It is pertinent to mention that a massive plantation drive has been undertaken to plant 520 saplings of medicinal and economical value to be planted in the sprawling college campus of 101 bighas.Last year 220 saplings were planted in the college stadium informed college sources.

In an effort to uplift the border populace 37 Battalion SSB deployed at Indo-Bhutan Border distributed furniture and computers to three different schools. A cyclist was run over by a speeding stone carrying dumper (AS 27 C 1972)on Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road near Garuajhar under Panery PS in Udalguri district on Tuesday morning.The deceased was identified as Tafazul Haque(12). Security forces in Tangla busted a human trafficking racket as they caught three people on Wednesday.  Acting on a tip off troops of 37 Bn SSB Mangaldai deployed a group of jawans at BOP in Nonaikhuti along the Indo-Bhutan border village of Udalguri.  With the help of local AASAA activists, the security forces apprehended the three persons who were to leave the place with a minor girl near Tangla railway station on  evening. Acleanliness drive was organized by Mula-Gabharu and Chamuapara-Balipara Jagrata Womens' Village Organisation (VO) at Chamuapara village on the outskirts of Tangla town on Sunday. In a major achievement,Udalguri police and Army in a joint operation nabbed two hardcore NDFB(S) cadres from Mazbat area of Udalguri on Friday. The duo are prime accused in the 2014 Adivasi killings in Sonitpur district. The apprehended have been identified as Jahan Mochshary @ Jiskel Mochsahary (30) and Jourwn Daimari(30) . Jahan is a 35th batch NDFB cadre and reportedly in most wanted list of by National Investigation Agency vide case RC-04/2014/NIA-GUW. The police are interrogating the rebels at Udalguri PS.
