Tangla town hit by artificial flashfloods

The dilapidated state of roads of Tangla town has been posing great inconvenience to people, mostly school and college goers, commuters and traders of the town along with people of nearby places. The water filled large potholes at Tangla-Bhergaon road, Tangla-Deur path and the bylane near Tangla HS school has been inundated with knee deep water which resides Sankardev Shishu Niketan, Arunodoi Academy school has been causing great trouble for students and guardians. The poor road condition have failed to draw attention of errant Tangla Town Committee authorities or the public representatives. Incessant rainfall since the past couple of days has totally paralyzed the normal functioning of life in the town. A single shower is just enough to make people suffer hell. The apathy of Tangla Town Committee(TTC) has been resented by the people of four wards of the town who despite paying regular taxes has been deprived of basic facilties like proper road,drinking water supply facility. The school and college going students were spotted battling with the logged water on Friday.The road connecting Tangla Forest Beat Office to MB Road has also been engulfed by knee-deep water. The TTC authorities after receiving complaints complete their duty by just laying thin layers of pebbles and sand. The bi-weekly market of Tangla has registered low sales as sticky mud and water logging in market sheds has made people avoid visiting them.The irated local residents who are liable to pay town committee taxes to TTC have expressed grave concern over the road conditions and have demanded intervention of the BTC authority and state government.

The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Speaking on the occassion he said that sole objective of the organization is to uplift the community in socio-economic, educational and cultural spheres. Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society.
