Diploma holders stage protest

Over 400 candidates of Diploma of Elementary Education (D .El. Ed),who are engaged teachers in LP schools staged protest demonstration in protest against shifting of examination centres to Bawanipur Anchalik College of Barpeta district instead of Kokrajhar district. The examination has been organized by Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU), was started from May 19 in three centres-DIET, Kokrajhar, Fakiragram College and Govt College of Teachers Education in Kokrajhra district.

D El Ed candidates come out today to put protest against partial decision to shift the examinations from Kokrajhar to other district. Candidates staged their protest and shouted slogans in front of Kokrajhar Press Club near fly over along JD Road in Kokrajhar demanding re-instay of examination centres.Candidates alleged the D El.Ed examination was conducted by KKHSOU without any proper syllabus, process that are created resented among attended candidates.They also alleged that invigilators from KKHSOU, who were deployed on examination duty have misbehaved with examination candidates in the examination hours. The protestors denied attending the examinations if they conduct the examination in other districts instead of Kokrajhar.

‘We will boycott the examination if examination has been shifted other than Kokrajhar, no doubt’, said agitated teachers.

Candidates urged the KKHSOU to rescheduled of the examination venues in Kokrajhar itself most of the women candidates are not able to attend examination in other districts. Teachers strongly protested the Centre shift and demanded re-instay in Kokrajhar at any costs. A memorandum was submitted to BTC education director seeking reinstay of examination centres in Kokrajhar without any delay.

Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the Bengtol missionary hospital where three persons were declared brought dead.
