Parag Das remembered

The 21st death anniversary of journalist and human right activist Parag Kumar Das was also observed at Nonaiparia High School of Nasanchali on the outskirts of Tangla town on Wednesday. The programme organised by Dimakuchi Press Club started with flag hoisting followed by floral tributes to the portait of Parag Kumar Das.

A career counselling programme was also held on the ocassion which was inaugurated by Amulya Saikia headmaster of Nonaiparia High School. The programme which was presided over by Rudra Deka was graced as resource person by Pranab Jyoti Das Principal Arunodoi Junior College of Tangla.

The resource person apprised the students on different career choices after 10+ 2 ranging from medical and para-medical courses to various engineering courses and diplomas and career in buisiness and commerce to career in visual artist,mass communication and graphic animation. Das urged the students to have strong determination and to forge ahead with their goals. A memorial lecture on the life of Parag Kumar Das was also held where Babu Rabha Hakasum senior journalist,Rabi Ram Boro senior journalist,Jayanta Rajbongshi poet cum journalist spoke on the life of the radical journalist.

Tangla AASU fetes meritorious students

Gang of petty thieves apprehended

TANGLA: In a major sucess for Tangla police apprehended five members of a gang of notorious petty thieves from Tangla weekly market on Friday. Acting on a tip off, a team of Tangla police nabbed the members of the gang identified as Rajendra Rajbongshi(19),Ajoy Pujari(19),Siba Pariga(21),Ashok Tanti(28) residents of Hattigarh TE under Harisinga P.S while Binod Nayak(25) is a resident of Teliapara under Panery P.S in Udalguri. Reportedly,the gang was involved in a number of theft related incidents in the Tangla weekly market and based on a F.I.R lodged by one Mintu Das they were apprehended. Summer dance workshop at Tangla

Revenue officer suspended for graft

TANGLA: The Land and Revenue Department of BTC had suspended a revenue officer of Harisinga Revenue Circle Office on charges of graft on Monday. The long time allegations of a section of public that the officials have to be bribed to move any file where proven true after a video of a revenue officer(Lot Mandal) of the Circle Office caught accepting bribe on camera went viral in social media sites. Reportedly, the revenue officer, identified as one Numal Daimari had allegedly accepted bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a person for registration of land. TANGLA: Three students of Don Bosco High School in Tangla here fled from their hostel on Tuesday last which has created palpable sensation among the boarders of the school and the guardians of the missing students.   TANGLA: The Public Health Department of Udalguri has taken up a unique initiative to empower the women of the region by conducting a training programme on Women Mason under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) . The programme was initiated with the help of two Self Help Groups viz.
