Special prayers marks‘Shab-e-barat’

Muslims around Tangla town and its sub-urbs observed ‘Shab-e-barat’ or the ‘night of deliverance’ on Thursday night. Shab-e-Barat, the night of deliverance,

falls on the 15th day of the Islamic month of Shaban. Muslims pray in preparation for Ramzan and seek forgiveness of their sins on the day. Special prayers and sermons marked the ocassion which were held at Bara Masjid and Banseria mosques of the Tangla town besides at number of mosques at Panery,Garuajhar,Dimakuchi,Ghagra,Kalaigaon and its interior areas. Houses, mosques and graveyards were also illuminated by candles and strands of electric bulbs to provide a joyful ambiance to the festival.

As per islamic belief on the night of Shab-E-Barat Allah scripts the destinies of all humans for the coming year by taking into account the deeds committed by them in the past.Legend also says that on this night the Prophet visits each house and relieves the pains of suffering humanity. Many also visited graveyards and remembered their dear ones.

The silver jubilee celebration of Bandana Sangha Club concluded at Ratanpur on the outskirts of Tangla today.  The two day colourful programme began on February 13 at 9 am with the hoisting of flag by Deba Kumar Rabha president of silver jubilee celebration committee. Saraswati Puja was celebrated in Tangla and it's neighbouring places. Students rushed schools and colleges to offer their prayers and seek divine blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Educational institutions were also seen distributing prasads to the students. People of all age groups irrespective of religion, caste, creed thronged the puja Mandaps. Young generation were gripped in the festive spirit and loitered along the streets.  
A Bodo folk cultural group comprising six male and eightheen female artists of Udalguri district has been invited to Bangkok of Thailand to perform in the India Fun Cheer Festival which is underway from February 10 to 14. The SSB jawans of 61 battalion nabbed six persons with 340 kg ganja (cannabis) and 251 bottles of liquor from the Arunachal- Assam border jungle area on Sunday. They have also seized a Wagon R car (AS-27, 6492) when they found the 251 bottles of liquor being taken illegally. Ransai Daimari (19) and Topeswar Kisan (35) of Pathakpur, Majbat were nabbed from the forest areas of Dhansiri Tea Estate with 230 kg ganja.
