Police recovered two AK-47 along with four magazines, a 9 mm pistol and 32 round live ammunitions recovered at Tamulphur area on Sunday during search operation at a house Sungkhra Basumtary in Baksa district.

Based on input about illegally storation of arms,police carried out a search operation at Tamulphur and recovered arms along with live ammunitions.Sungkhra Basumatary is absconding since after incident.Investigation is on into incident,said a senior police officer.

Witch-hunting: BA student killed

Member of a family accused of practicing black magic went missing since 22 April last at East Maligaon village in Kokrajhar district. The family member suspects foul play and filed a FIR at Kokrajhar police station on Thursday. A person identified as Jahidul Islam was apprehended by security forces in a joint operation from Rupsi in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. A 7.65 pistol,magazine and three live ammunition were recovered from him.

2 NDFB-S linkmen arrested

Kokrajhar police arrested two NDFB-S linkmen from different locations in Kokfrajhar district. The arrested youths have been identified as Heremba Muchahary, 19 and Sudem Borgoyary, 26. Police have earlier on April 14 arrested four youths-Kwrwmdao Narzary, Surjay Basumatary, Khwmtha Brahma and Ratanjay Basumatary- all between 18-21 age for their link with the NDFB-S militant outfit. A person was died and another received serious injury following heavy thunderstorm hit at two separate incidents in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.
