Batadrava Than Development Commitee meeting held
The Second meeting of the Committee for development of Batadrava than, the Committee constituted by Chief minister of Assam to make Batadrava than as a cultural and tourist destination was held on Monday at Batadrava than seminar hall. The meeting was presided over by Rabin Dev Choudhury, former director general of Museum,New Delhi and Chairman of Batadrava than development Committee and was assisted by Shamsher Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon and member secretary of the commitee. The three MLAs of Batadrava,Raha and Nagaon Sadar namely Angoorlata Deka, Dimbeswar das and Rupak Sarma, Director of Cultural affairs Deba prashad mishra, Superintedent of police Nagaon Devraj upadhaya, the Satradhikars of Norwa and Sologuri Satra of Batadrava and other dignitaries of the committee attended the meeting.
Initiating the discussion, the deputy Commissioner briefed the objectives of the meeting and appreciated honourable Chief minster's effort. Circle officer of Dhing revenue circle Mrinal borah briefed the details of land area of Batadrava than along with the history of the than through powerpoint presentation. The other dignitaries along with MLAs stressed their strategies/plans of uplifting the infrastructure of Batadrava than to attract the pilgrims of all round the world. Later,the committee members also visited the recently encroachment free areas of Batadrava than to plan out Construction and implementation of various Schemes and projects.

A rare species of tortoise has been saved after being found trying to cross over the Dhing-Nagaon connecting road adjacent to Batadrava police station on Thursday night.The approximate weight of the tortoise is 6 kg.It was collected by a man namly Rajib baruah on the road,luckyly there was no vehicle passing at that time. Rajib Baruah is officer in charge of Batadrava police station. The rescued tortoise later was released in fresh water of Akakhi ganga,the waterbody located inside the Batadrava than.
Four young greater adjutant storks, a highly endangered stork species,were found at Chakalaghat in the Nagaon district on Wednesday. Some locals spotted the young adjutant storks close land adjacent to Barbhety Simolutol PWD road and rescued them with providing initial care. The storks were later handed over to Forest officials of Nagaon. It may be mentioned here that Near to chalaghat their was a tall tree where Some greater adjutant storks had nested in. But few days back the owner of the land have cut down the tree for which the young storks fallen out from the nest.
MLA of Batadrava, Angoorlata deka on Tuesday laid foundation stone of two important link roads from Itakhuli to Kapahera via khandajan and Kapahera Sunaruguri to Bakarichuk. Itakhuli to Kapahera link road via Khandajan to be constructed at an estimated cost of 2.4 Crore and Kapahera Sunaruguri to Bakarichuk link road to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 66 lakh under RIDF XXII NABARD FUND( 2016-2017) will provide road connectivity to the people of at least dozens of villages and other adjoining areas.

A nine year old boy met watery grave at a pond at a remote hamlet in Nagaon district casting a pall of gloom in the entire area on Saturday. The tragic incident took place at Aadhakhunda village in Juria in the afternoon where Abu Hasan, son of Sarafat Ali accidentally fell into a pond near his house as he was playing with his friends on Saturday. Yet another incident of bizarre domestic violence a husband allegedly set his wife on fire in Nagaon district of Assam sending shockwave across the state. Identified as Rana Bordoloi is alleged to have killed his wife Sabitri by setting her on fire at their home in Palengtoli,Barkola in the afternoon. Local residents who refused to be named told Assam Times said because of domestic violence, Rana poured kerosene on his wife and threw fire at her and the fire charred her on the spot. Then Rana has gone missing. Local residents informed the Bebejia police who is looking for Rana registering a case against him.

One person died and four others sustained grave injury after the vehicle in which they were travelling turned turtle on the road after it rammed into the divider in Nagaon on Tuesday. The bizarre road mishap took place at Nonoi Arjuntol on thr National Highway No 37 in the morning. The injured have been battling for life at the civil hospital. Identified as Abdul Kadir, he died on the spot. Eye witnesses, mostly, have blamed rash driving for thr tragic road mishap.
The Nagaon police have seized a huge cache of explosive materials during a raid in Dhing area on Wednesday.
