Cyclone kills 1 near Tangla

Cyclone (Bordoichila) caused devastation in and around Tangla under Harisinga Revenue Circle in Udalguri district on the first day of Assamese new year on April 15,killing one person and damaging several hundred houses.One Puran Sarma (75) of the village Panipota near Tangla was injured seriously who later succumbed to his injury at a Tangla hospital. The cyclone had come all on a sudden at around 8.20 in the morning causing devastation in villages namely-Tangla Town,Ratanpur,Panipota,Murmela,Sastrapara, Paneri,Suklai, Bhergaon etc.The cyclone was fierce one which uprooted trees and carried away house roofs at many places.Electricity supply was disrupted for a day in many places because of uprooting of trees.DN Hazarika,ADC, Udalguri visited sveral villages mostly effected by the cyclone on April 15.
