Panchayat Karmachari stages dharna in Kokrajhar

Hundreds of  Panchayat Karmachari from BTAD districts joined hands in the sit-in-dharna programme in front of DC office in Kokrajhar on Wednesday demanding immediate solution of various demand and grievances, which included regularisation of jobs,release of salaries to the Karmachari in the region.

Agitators from four districts of BTAD with banner,placards staged dharna under the bnaner of BTAD Panchayat Casual Employee Association shouted slogans for demnading early initiative while bringing solutions of the Karmachari who are dropped from job since after creation of BTC in 2003 which was started from 11 am for three-hour.

There are still 188 panchayat karmachari in the BTAD region who were engaged and appointed prior to 1993 by Assam government to execute government duty and responsibilities in the Panchayat level.

A memorandum was also submitted to BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary through Kokrajhar Deputy Comssioner.

In BTAD region,panchayat employees are dropped in their jobs and since they become function less as BTC has no any panchayat activities as per the Sixth Scheduled area.They demanded that BTC administration should take proper policy while absorbing regularisation of panchayat employees so that they could get job regularisation in their life.

Nareswar Deka,president and Bipin Chandra Boro,secretary of the association demanded early solution of the problem and issues of the panchayat employees in the council region.They put pressure BTC administration for taking measures for the employees.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
