Mahanta stresses implementation of Assam Accord

Former two-time Chief Minister of Assam Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has eyed proper implementations with letter spirit of historic Assam Accord and early completion of NRC update in the state so that illegal immigrants could be identified and deported from Assam.

  Mahanta arrived here in Kokrajhar to attend at a meeting today by Rajdhani express train while talking exclusively with this correspondent said that the clauses of the historic Assam Accord should be implemented properly to gain healthy integration in the state.The Assam state should be free from illegal immigrants through properly update of NRC.

 He has demanded early border seal along the Indo-Bangladesh border.He has alleged that due to insincerity from centre,the Indo-Bangladesh border seal could not reach in final shape.He said that goverrnment should take early completion of NRC update in the state through which state could be free from illegal foreigners.

 On the cabinet expansion,Mahnata said that it is up to the CM’s subject matter,the allied partners are wanting more ministerial berth as the parties were pact allience pre-poll with BJP and formed the government in the state.

 Mahanta also said that Assam’s land would not be allowed to the Nagalim in which NSCN(IM) has been claiming through ‘framework agreement’ with centre.

 ‘No any inches of land of Assam would be handed over to Nagalim at any costs’, Mahanta said.

Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar.
