NH blockade disrupts road communication

Road communication was disrupted for nearly five hours due to National Highway blockade by Adivashi National Convention (ANC), an united organisation of Adivashi community, demanded early solution of various demand and issues,which included granting of Scheduled Tribe(ST) status to the Adivashis, provide land pattas to the Tea estate workers in the state.

 Hundreds of Adivashi peoples and actvists from different organisations from nmember organisations of ANC,which are included ASSU,Adivasi Seva Samiti,ANLA,BCF,AASAA,APA,Cobra Militant of Adivashi.

 Agitators with banner,placards blocking the national highway at Karigaon along 31 C NH in Kokrajhar district and shouted slogans demanding early solutions of the demand and issues of the Adivashis in the state. The ANC has also staged NH blockade at various places of the state, included at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar, Kajalgaon in Chirang,Nalbari,Orang in Udalguri district which disrupted road communication in the region.

 Many long distance public buses, loaded carrying trucks were stranded at various places in many lower Assam districts for the blockade. The blockade was started from 7 am in the morning and continued till 12 pm after district administration promises for sending message about their demands to the concern authority. The ANC submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner seeking early solutions of the community.

Birshing Munda, chief convenor of ANC said that the ANC has been demanding early solution of demand and issues raised for the community. He said that the Adivashis are indigenous people of the country, but the community has been deprived from getting scheduling in the state of Assam. He has urged government to take bold step while solving demands of the community.

‘We have been blocking national highways across the state to put pressure government for solutions of the grievance and issues of the Adivashis through holding peace talks’, Munda said.

 Boyal Hembrom, chairman of Adivasi Seva Samiti,Ambrit Beck,ANLA leader while participating the blockade said that government should come forward with strong initiative so that the Adivashis could get early ST status in the state of Assam. They also demanded permanent solutions of the ceasefire militant groups of the community through political way as many arms organization reached at the ceasefire since 2012 in the state. But, government tactically delayed the peace talks over the issues and demands.

 Durga Hasda, chairman of Birsa Commando Force (BCF) demanded early granting of ST status to the Adivashis as soon as possible. He has slammed government for not taking any measures while solving their demand and issues. They have warned to take mass more agitation if their demands are nor in earliest manner in coming days.

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state.
