Anganwadi workers protest for various demands

Reiteirating their demands and entering their statewide protest to third consecutive day the Anganwadi workers and assistants association staged protest at Bhergaon to press for resolution of their demands on Tuesday.

Scores of Anganwadi workers and assistants staged a sit-in protest demonstration and parlysed the normal functioning of  Child Development Project Office at Bhergaon of Udalguri from 10 am to 2 pm  raising slogans against the Union and the state government.

The protesters numbering nearly five hundred protested demanding gratuity, formulation of pension scheme, immediate enhancement of their honorarium payment of minimum wages and increase in budget of ICDS.

They also demanded regularization of their services as Class III and Class IV employees with increase in their honorarium to Rs. 5000 and Rs 4000 per month respectively.

The protestors  also handed a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister and Department of Social Welfare, Government of Assam, wherein they resented the State govt’s backtracking on the promise made earlier for increasing their honorarium and sought immediate intervention  to resolve their issues.

The silver jubilee celebration of Bandana Sangha Club concluded at Ratanpur on the outskirts of Tangla today.  The two day colourful programme began on February 13 at 9 am with the hoisting of flag by Deba Kumar Rabha president of silver jubilee celebration committee. Saraswati Puja was celebrated in Tangla and it's neighbouring places. Students rushed schools and colleges to offer their prayers and seek divine blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The SSB jawans of 61 battalion nabbed six persons with 340 kg ganja (cannabis) and 251 bottles of liquor from the Arunachal- Assam border jungle area on Sunday. They have also seized a Wagon R car (AS-27, 6492) when they found the 251 bottles of liquor being taken illegally. Ransai Daimari (19) and Topeswar Kisan (35) of Pathakpur, Majbat were nabbed from the forest areas of Dhansiri Tea Estate with 230 kg ganja.
