Husband of four caught while marrying a minor at Dimakuchi
In a shocking incident a cheater has been caught recently at Dimakuchi village in Udalguri district after marrying a minor girl student.The capture of the elderly man while marrying the minor girl,surprisingly with the help of none other than her own mother has has exposed cases of polygamy,illegal trafficking and child marriage prevailing in the district.According to information, one Prabhat Deka Barua (45)inhabitant of village Laluk in Lakhimpur district married a minor girl,daughter of Bharati Das(40),a widow living in the village No.2 Dharamjuli near Dimakuchi forty five days back at Kamakhya temple in Guwahati.But the matter was kept in secret and even villagers were not aware of the marriage.The man started living in the house of widow Bharati Das along with his new bride.But last week the bride caught her husband Prabhat in compromising position with her mother.The news spread like wildfire and people including AASU,Dimakuchi anchalik committee,Hindi Bhasi students Union of Udalguri held Prabhat and Bharati for interrogation last Sunday on March 26 at Dimakuchi.Both confessed to be in love for last three months following mobile messages.It was shocking to know that Prabhat had already married four girls at various places in the state.He also confessed to have been leaving behind his fourth wife Jonali along with a two months old baby at Hawajan in Lakhimpur district.Pranjal Bora,SDPO, Bhergaon told this correspondent today that the culprit Prabhat,a master roll worker of PWD,in Lakhimpur district has been remanded to judicial custody and action against Bharati Das is under process.
