Samalabari primary school turns 50

The golden jubilee celebration of Samalabari LP School concluded on March 26 with three days programme.The school has been the centre for learning among villagers besides class room teaching since its establishment in 1953.The celebration started on March 24 with the hoisting of school flag at 7 am jointly by Sanjay Kumar Tanti,president of the celebration committee and Putul Chandra Nath,Headmaster of 646 No.Samalabari LP school.Fifty numbers of school flags were also hoisted at a time by distinguished people of the locality followed by "Homage Paying Ceremony',conducted by journalist Purbajyoti Medhi,while Dona Ram Boro and Dhuli Boro memorial golden jubilee pandal were inaugurated by journalists Nipu Kakati and Mosaddique Hussain respectively.The pandals were made from thatches in the form of a traditional Assamese Japi,which were donated by social worker Krishna Boro.On the second day on March 25,'Dharani Xeuji Koran',a plantation programme was launched by fifty numbers of village social workers at 10 am,which was inaugurated by former Hony. Wildlife Warden Jayanta Das.In the evening at 7 pm,a programme on folk song and dance was held which was inaugurated by DN Hazarika, ADC,Udalguri district.On the concluding day on March 26 a cultural rally was taken out through the roads.Several hundred people mostly woman and children took part in the rally in colorful traditional costume.The open session was held at 1 pm which was presided over by Sanjay Kumar Tanti,president of the organizing committee.'Samala',a souvenir was released on the occasion by Manju Devi Pegu,HoD, Assamese, Cotton State University,Guwahati.Maheswar Boro,MLA,Kalaigaon LAC;Jagadish Sarkar,EM,BTC and Ismail Hussain attended as the distinguished guests in the open session while noted writer Arupa Patangia Kalita,winner of Assam Valley Literary Award, 2016 instituted by Williamson Magor Education Trust,attended as the appointed speaker.Speaking on the occasion,Arupa Patangia Kalita requested people not to be carried away by the fragmented emotional ideology circulated by a section of politically motivated people but to live in peace,mentioning that hopes of common people would never die.She requested woman of Kalaigaon to children humanity and good behavior and to serve people of the own villages.A poetry book written by Juri Sarma Deka was also inaugurated by her on the occasion.Nabin Chandra Boro,Inspector of Schools, Udalguri district;social workers- Kami Ram Saharia,Mahendra Saikia,Kamal Prasad Sarma etc attended the closing ceremony.

The recent recovery of huge numbers of gelatin sticks from three persons at Rowta in Udalguri district has alerted police and civil administration.
