International Book fair concludes
The International Book fair cum literary festival, cultural exchange, food festival and trade fair was concluded today after week long programme scheduled at Bagduar Nwgwr, Bijni in Chirang district. The event was organized in connection with 33rd foundation day celebration of Bodo Writer's Academy, an organization of Bodo writers.
The event was started from March 16 with various colorful programmes. A multi cultural demonstrations from different communitites were also showcased on the day, included Bhutan,Bodo,Adivasi,Koch Rajbongshi,Bengali,Rabha.
Kampa Borgoyary, BTC deputy chief graced as chief guest on the open session that held today on the concluding day with Lwmsrao Daimary, BTC executive member in the chair. Borgoyary,in his speech said that it was an event of international where participant and guests along with cultural troupes participated. He has lauded the organisers for their initiative to organise such attractive programmes.
‘This is an opportunity to share information and cultural exchange among different community and languages in this region’,Borgoyary said.
Kunzang Thinley, director of Royal Academy of Performing Arts, Bhutan, Biswajit Daimary,Rajya Sabha MP, Kamalsingh Narzary, Bijni MLA, Anaya Brahma, noted Bollywood singer were attended as guests.
Ugyen Rabten, general secretary of India-Bhutan Friendship Association(BIFA) attending the event appreciated the international event that gave a cultural exchange among different communities along with neighboring country.He said that Bhutan and BTC of Assam has closed integration in the region.
Thinley, director of Bhutan lauded the international event where Bhutanese cultural team also presented cultural showcase.
‘The people of Bhutan alway wants integration and unity with India part, which has good communication with BTC region’, Thinley said.
Rajen Basumatary, president of Bodo Writer's Academy told that the week-long event was concluded today with beautiful open session. He said that different stalls from Bhutan,Bangladesh,Tripura, Meghalaya and prominent publications across the state participated. He has extended thanks to all participants, guests, organizers that extended cooperation in the week long event.
A new executive committee of the Bodo Writers Academy was formed with Rajen Basumatary and Dr Ranen Mushahary as president and general secretary respectively for next three years during the celebration.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
