As many as 15 books were released on the second day of the ongoing International Book fair cum literary festival, cultural exchange, food festival being held held at Bagduar Nwgwr, Bijni in Chirang district on Friday.
The international event has been coincided with the celebration of 33rd foundation day of the Bodo Writers' Academy, an organization of Bodo writers in the state of Assam. Several book stalls from different parts of the the country,apart from state,including NationalBook Trust(NBT),Tripura,West Bengal are participated in the event.
Bijay Baglary,president of the academy hoisted flag in the morning followed floral homage to martyrs on the occasion by Rajen Basumatary,vice president of the academy.Dr Subungcha Mwshahary,vice president of the academy paid floral tribute toTengfakhri,a legendary heroin of Bodo in the morning.
Several books written and published by different publications were unveiled which included Rebgon,a souvenir of the reception committee on the occasion. Manindra Chandra,SDO(civil),Dhansri unveiled the Rebgon souvenir of the reception committee that brought out on the occasion.Former MLA Rakeswar Brahma also released two-books written by Dr Rupali Swargiyary, noted writer.
A lecture on the topic of vision & mission of the Bodo Writers’ Academy was held with Bijay Baglary. Rakhao Basumatary,noted writer,Rajendra Nath Boro,president Boro Somaj,Ughen Raften,secretary of India Bhutan Friendship Association(BIFA) graced as speakers on the occasion.
Dr Rupali Swargiary, noted writer of Baksa district was conferred Asha Mushahary LiteraryAward for her Khwmsi Okrangao Gwrlwi Okhapwr book (short story).The award comprises of cash 10,000,citation and momento.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will grace aschief guest while Hagrama Mohilary, BTC chief will be attending as inaugurator on the open session on the concluding day of the event on March 23.

Properties worth Rs 1 crore has been reduced to ashes when a major fire broke out in Nalbari town on Monday. The local businessman injured in the shocking shoot out in Dhubri is battling for life on Monday. The Delhi government has agreed to set up a statute of Chaolung Sukapha in the national capital. The assurance came from Delhi Chief minister Sheila Dixit who talked to her Assam counterpart Tarun Gogoi. Before that Gogoi in a letter requested Dixit to consider the proposal to set up the first Ahom king in the national capital. The initiative assumes significance after the government invited unprecedented criticism for not giving due status to the Ahom king.
Local residents in Goalpara district beat him a suspected militant to death on Saturday night. Three motorcycles suspected to have been used by the militants were recovered from the area.One bomb is suspected to be concealed in the MLA's house and a bomb disposal squad of the police reached the place, they added. A series of low intensity blasts has forced the security forces to fan in lower Assam on Sunday. Suspected ULFA militants on Saturday night set off eight IED blasts in a space of 90 minutes targeting the house of an AIDUF MLA and crowded markets in Goalpara and Dhubri districts. There, is, however, no report of casualty.ULFA, along with some other insurgents group, gave a call for boycotting the Republic Day celebrations. The first blast took place inside the residential complex of Moinuddin Ahmed, MLA of All India Democratic United Front, at Jaleshwar in Goalpara district.
Over 20 people have been injured when a passenger bus slipped into deep gorge in near Guwahati on Saturday.The accident took place at around 2-30 in the afternoon when the passenger bus was on its way to Kamakhya and suddenly it lost control and fell on a gorge where several people were rescued by police and local residents.
