Senior political leader T Biren Singh took oath as Manipur Chief minister at a function in Imphal on Wednesday. Governor Dr Najma Heptulla administered him the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhawan in presence of many BJP leaders.
BJP president Amit Shah could not attend the function because of unavoidable reasons. Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, HRD minister Prakash Javadekar, senior leader Ram Madhab also attended the ceremony.
Despite 21 seats, BJP formed the government with the support of NPP, NPF, TMC and the lone independent candidate.
