Minor girl rescued

Locals  rescued a girl child from Tangla railway station on Thursday noon. The 14 year old girl was found loitering in the station.The girl child was later handed over to GRP police on Friday.
The girl hails from Phulandar village under Dhulian PS in Murshidabad  of West Bengal . The distressed girl child is suspected to run-away from home.The girl child was later handed over to ROSS child care home authorities .The local child welfare committee (CWC) will now counsel her and work on sending her back to her family. Police and locals have also contacted Dhulian PS of West Bengal to trace the whereabouts of her family members.  The girl child divulged that her father is one Mohammed Momin.

Bathou Mahasabha from Feb 6

The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. Bandh hits life at Tangla

The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.

Hindi speakers committee at Tangla

Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Chaath Puja at Tangla

Chhath puja would be observed on riverbanks and near other water bodies on November 17 and 18 at Tangla. The festival include rigorous fast and rituals spanning four days, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water, presenting offerings(argh) to the Sun God, standing in water and offering prasad In Tangla devotees would offer their prayers on the bank of two rivers Nonai and Naika. Children's day in Tangla

Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society. Tangla Bengali students unit celebrates

The 15th foundation day celebration of Tangla college unit body of All BTC Bengali Youth Student's Federation was held on Friday at Bordoloi Bhawan, Tangla.
