Hundreds of teachers from various schools join hands with banner, placards in the six-hour hunger strike on Wednesday demanding solution to various grivances of the teachers, which included provincialisation of venture schools, provide facilities to the Sikhak, Karmachari who are provincilised on 01.01.2013 under 7th pay commission, provide GPF instead of NPS etc in the state.
Teachers’ hunger strike was started from 8 am in the morning in front of DC office in Kokrajhar and concluded by 2 pm, which was organized by Sadou Assam Sikhak Karmachari Maha Jouta Sangathan, a united organization of teacher’s of LP school to Colleges. Teachers shouted slogans demanded early solution of teachers’ grievances which have been demanded since few years across the state.
The Sangathan submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar seeking early solution of demand and issues of the teachers. The demands included fill up the vacancies of teachers’ posts in schools as per student’s ratio; allot salaries to the teachers through PB-3 instead of PB-2 to gain welfare of the teaching community in the state.
Rahendra Mushahary, president of Kokrajhar district unit of the Sangathan said that the teachers observed hunger-strike to put pressure government for seeking our demand and issues in the state. He said that teachers were appointed to teach students in the state, but today government has been tactically trying to decline while fulfilling our welfare and services.
He has demanded early solution of demand and grievances. The teachers have also warned to take vigorous movement if their demand and issues are not meeting in earliest manner, an agitated teacher said.
