Ganja seized in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar police seized huge quantity of smuggling ganja at a truck at Karigaon along 31 C National Highway today in Kokrajhar which was supposed to bound for Delhi from Shillong of Meghalaya state.
Based on a secret information about smuggling ganja, Kokrajhar police strictly kept closed watch on trucks on National Highway since yesterday and found a truck coming from Shillong for Delhi yesterday evening and seized the 19 packed of ganja weighing of 260 kgs that were illegally brought.

The truck was bearing registration NL01L-1970 that brought family goods of a senior defense official bound for Delhi. The truck was carrying goods which written on Air Force Duty belonging to Air Marshal R Nambiar, who has transfered to Delhi from Shillong.

Police first, seized the truck late last evening, later carried out searched whole body of the truck in the presence of magistrate and able to recover 19 packets of ganja, which were illegally brought.

Police arrested driver Anil Kumar and M Swamy, an employee of Air Force, who was engaged with truck. Market value of the seized ganja would be over 10-15 lakhs.

Rajen Singh, SP, Kokrajhar told that police seized huge amount of ganja along the national highway today following strong checking on the national highway. He said that the seized goods were bound for Delhi along with family goods of a senior defense official.He said that the seized amounts goods was 260 kgs in 19 packets.He said that investigation is on into seized goods,who is involved with with carrying illegal goods.

Police has been communicating with air force official as senior defense official’s goods carrying truck found seized for taking objectionable materials. The seized goods were brought by smuggllers for their black business purposes,said a senior police officer.

‘Police had an information about carrying ganja at a truck bound for Delhi from Shillong and subsequently detected the truck late last evening at Karigaon.The packets of ganja were brought inside a truck along with family goods of a senior defense official’, said Singh.

Police seized the ganja which were illegally smuggled from Shillong for Delhi at Karigaon in Kokrajhar district today, said an eye witness of the smuggling ganja.
