Trafficked teen rescued from Siliguri

A 15-years-old girl has been rescued on Thursday by Kachugaon police from Red light area, Siliguri under Kalpahar PS of West Bengal state, who was trafficked a youth in July 2016 last from Kachugaon area of Kokrajhar district.

It was a report about missing of a girl from a remote village under Kachugaon PS in Kokrajhar district in July month of 2016 as girl’s father reported to the Kachugaon PS on August 12(2016) with vide GDE no.253 dated 12/08/2016.Case was registered with Kachugaon PS no. 03/2017, under section(u/s) 366(A) IPC.

Kachugaon police since then has been keeping close investigation into case and traced out the location of girl yesterday in Siliguri of West Bengal. In the investigation, the victim girl was traced in Red light area, Siliguri and recovered yesterday by Kachugaon police in association with West Bengal police. The girl has been brought to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital today for medical under police custody.

Police officer said that the girl was rescued from Red light area of Siliguri as police administration has been carried out investigation into incident. She has been brought here for medical, which was trafficked by a youth in July last.

‘Villagers in association with police rescued the girl from Siliguri area of West Bengal yesterday’, a villager of the girl said.

More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms. In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority. Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB. A few days ago the government signed a tripritite peace treaty with all the factions of the NDFB. In the treaty the Centre and state government, reportedly, promised to upgrade the BTAD as BTR.
Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD. These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC. Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.
Several organistions have expressed resentment over the Centre's move to upgrade the Bodo Territorial Council as Union Territorial Council. According to sources the Centre would soon sign a peace pact with the NDFB . In the pact upgradation of the BTC as a UTC would likely to take place, sources revealed. Opposing the move AKRASU, ABAMSU and many other organistaions of the BTAD have warned the Union government to abdicate such decision. These organisations have also termed the proposal as undemocratic.
KOKRAJHAR: One junior engineer posted at Kachugaon development block has been arrested by police for his alleged involvement with a massive financial scam.
