What ails Raha HS School

At a time when  education  minister Himanta Biswa Sarma often claims to have been leaving no stone unturned to give fresh lease of life in the government schools and colleges, the ground reality tells a different story.

Many schools and colleges have been falling short of teaching staff causing immense hardship for the students who have no option but to go to the private institutions. Mention may be made of the Raha HS School.

For the last couple of years, the school has been facing shortage of teachers in the subjects of Mathematics, Sanskrit,Geography and political science where the students have to bear the brunt. What is more pathetic is the school has been running without a Sanskrit teacher since 2002.

For the last two years the post of Mathematics has been lying vacant while since 2013, the school gas been running without a Geography teacher. Same it us in the case of the Political Science subject.

The school authority told Assam Times that despite repeated requests, the department has yet to blink much to the major disappointment of the students and guardians.

The All Assam Students Union has expressed grave concern over this dismal state of affairs and demands immediate measures to recruit teachers in the schools and colleges. Talking to Assam Times, Raha AASU leader Mridul Hazarika blamed it on the education minister for the inconvenience and called him the worse minister in the state.
