Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday tabled the state budget for 2017-18 on the floor if the Houses proposing a huge list.
Sarma said the budget would help the poor people improve their living standard with basic facilities at the doorstep. He said the state, for the first time, got a budget without non planned expenditure.
The proposals include two medical colleges in Tinsukia and Nalbari, cultural university in Majuli, mini ISBT in Khanapara, Tezpur Central university campus in Jonai, solar power station in Amguri.
He further proposed to regularize 4000 TET teachers apart from 10000 new recruitment if teachers saying that more teacher recruitment would be a giant leap in the education sector.
For the first time, the budget proposed a dairy university in Sorbhog saying it would be a biggest boost for the sub sector which needs a fresh lease of life. In a bid to boost the agriculture sector, the government proposed loans upto Rs 100,000 for the farming fraternity apart from a tracktor in each of the revenue villages.
The North-East Finale of the WWF-India Wild Wisdom Global Challenge 2023 was held on November 3, 2023, at Royal Global University in Guwahati, Assam. This year's challenge was themed "Birds of the World" and was open to students from classes 6 to 9.
A total of 80 schools with 160 students from Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, and various districts of Assam participated in the finale.
