The Supreme court on Monday granted bail to Manoranjana Sinh in the multi crore Saradha chit fund scam.
A division bench of the apex court which took up the bail plea challenging the Calcutta High Court’s order granted bail to the former managing director of Positiv Television.
Sinh, the estranged wife of former union minister Matang Sinh was arrested by CBI in October 2015 acting on the inputs available in the purported letter from Saradha chief Sudipto Sen.
Sen alleged to have paid Sinh Rs 25 crores to set up a new television channel in Guwahati four years back. A CBI team set up to probe the huge scam arrested het after a few rounds of interrogation and still she is in judicial custody.
Former union minister Matang Sinh, who is also an accused in the scam moved the country’s top court for bail. But he was denied.
