High hopes on Budget in Dibrugarh

The Union Budget to be tabled in Parliament on Wednesday by finance minister Arun Jaitley is expected to give the people of Dibrugarh a fresh ray of hopes.

Kamini Gogoi, a retired school teacher in the Paltanbazar area in Dibrugarh told Assam Times that the budget would fetch something exceptionally good for the people.

“The NDA government at the Centre must keep in mind the favour the people of Assam did in the assembly polls. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal hails from this district definitely the government must encourage us,” said Gogoi.

Bobbeta Saikia, a housewife in Naliapool pins hopes on the measures to rein in the soaring price level. “I want special measures urgently to control the prices. It would he a huge success for the Modi government which is possible,” she said.

A local businessman in Boiragimoth said,” If Modi can demonetise to put the corrupt people in peril why should he keep mum in action against the blackmarketeers and hoarders? The budget must have measures to curb the menace which have been putting the common people in no less trouble.”

“Let him firstly reduce the price of LPG, kerosene and patrol. Let him propose something special for the farmers. Then we would see Modi and his government,” said Ataur Rahman from Assam Medical College Hospital premises.

Dr Johnson Bey, a medical student in Assam Medical College Hospital said,” the NDA government at the Centre should enhance the list if the live saving medicines to give the patients some relief. During the last couple if years, there has been steep rise the prices of medicines which is beyond the reach of the common people.”
