Expansion dilemma for Sonowal
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is caught in a deep dilemma over his move for cabinet expansion. Coalition partners BPF and AGP have been demanding more berths in the soon to be expanded cabinet while his state party chief Ranjit Das is believed to have asked the chief minister not to proceed right now.
Talking to Assam Times in New Delhi, a senior BPF leader vented no less ire on the delay citing inauspicious time. He questioned the delay saying that further delay would hamper their performance. “Why Sonowal should keep waiting for auspicious time. He should reshuffle his cabinet at an earlier date,” said the BPF leader.
“BPF is not happy with only ministers in the cabinet. Even the move to induct one more of them fails to satisfy the Bodo regional party leaders,” said sources.
In a recent meeting, the AGP legislators have demanded more cabinet berths much to a major worries for the chief minister who is likely to keep it pending for the time being.
