In yet another incident that sends shockwaves across the state, a poor farmer in Kamrup district committed suicide for his alleged failure to repay the debt he availed of from a local saving organization.
The incident took place at Nij Depheli village near Rangiy where a poor farmer, who borrowed Rs 10,000 from a local village organization was found hanging on a tree on Tuesday just a day before he was to face the organizations for failing to repay the debt.
This is for the first time a farmer committed suicide during the six month long regime of Sarbananda Sonowal. Nearly eight poor farmers committed suicide during the 15 year long Tarun Gogoi’s regime.
