Hayat Hospital conducts GPC clinic

Physicians from the city based Hayat Hospital conducted the Saturday evening OPD at Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on 7 January. Dr Anjan Saikia (Gastroenterology), Dr Daboo Patowari (Internal Medicine) and Dr Abhisek Lohia (Dermatology) offered free consultations after checking their blood pressure & sugar. Over 35 participants joined in the evening clinic.

Hayat Hospital has also announced various concessions in treatment for press club members along with their families. Paragjyoti Dutta, assistant general manager of the hospital informed that they would get special discount on OPD/Doctor Consultation Charges (100%), Room Rent (25%), Lab Investigation (20%), CT/USG/X-Ray (20%), MRI/MR Angiography (20%), EEG, ECG,TMT, HOLTER, ECHO (20%), Colonoscopy & Endoscopy (20%), Operation Theatre Charges (10%) and Medicine (5%).

Next GPC evening clinic will be conducted by Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya Guwahati on 21 January. The eye camp at press club premises will begin at 4 pm and continue till 6 pm. The 14 January camp has been cancelled due to Magh Bihu celebrations.

Till date, practicing physicians from Dispur Hospitals, Down Town Hospitals, GNRC Group of Hospitals, Narayana Super-Specialty Hospitals, Swagat Super-Surgical Institute, Wintrobe Hospital, Nemcare Hospital, Sun Valley Hospital, Sight First eye-clinic, Government Ayurvedic College, Barthakur Clinic, Apollo Hospitals Chennai etc had conducted weekly camps.

Similarly, Medanta-The Medicity Hospital Gurgaon, Gauhati Medical College, GMC Panbazar campus, Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad, Rahman Hospital etc have shown interest in conducting the camps titled ‘Evening with a Doctor’ in the coming days.

Trader escapes from captivity

One horn terror in Koliabor

Rhino terror refuses to die down. A strayed rhino seems to have been unleashing terror in Kaliabor area on Wednesday a day after one person was killed in rhino attack in Majuli.Local villagers in Koliabor in the outskirt of the Kaziranga National park spotted the one horn animal at an open paddy field in Kuwalitul in the morning. They informed it to the forest department where officials arrived in the field to disperse the animal which could not sneak into the human habitat.    

Cong selects Guwahati candidate

Over 1000 Congress activists in Kamrup district are helping party high command select the candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Guwahati.According to APCC, 1055 Congress workers are lined up in Dispur to vote in favour of their choice for the Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency.From 9 in the morning on Wednesday, the party workers are making long queue in front of the booth at the Rudra Singha Sports Complex to select the candidate acting on the instruction of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.  Counting is expected to take place in the evening. HS Exam begins

Assam Higher secondary examination begins in science, arts and commerce streams on Wednesday.According to the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council over 2,54,000 candidates are appearing  this year in 792 centres across the state.The council has set up special committee in the district level to ensure free and fair examination.Over 2,000 officials have been deployed to deal with anomalies and irregularities. Barring a few anomalies, the examinations are going on peacefully.   The High School Leaving Certificate Examination is also scheduled to begin on Thursday.

Rahul rally on Feb 25

Mob ire on forest officials

Two forest officials faced wrath of people in Majuli after a strayed rhino killed a local villager on Tuesday.The incident took place at 10 in the morning at Pohumara paddy field where despite repeated information of rhino terror, the forest officials needed nearly 4 hours to reach the spot.Local residents told Assam Times that they did inform the forest department in the wee hours that a full grown rhino is moving freely in the area striking panic among the villagers. CBI to probe Tania death

The Central Bureau of Investigation will probe into the death of Nido Tania at the hands of a few miscreants in New Delhi.The confirmation came from Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde when he met Tania’s parents in the capital on Tuesday.Before that Tania’s parents called on Rahul Gandhi who assured them of help. Tania’s was killed in racial attack in Lajpotnagar and six accused have been arrested in the face of growing protest.

Trouble for Phukan

Four BJP legislators are dead opposed to Prasanta Phukan as the party’s legislature committee head in the Assembly.They write to the party leadership to remove him from the post following the allegations of his role in the voting anomalies in the Rajya Sabha polls where the Opposition consensus candidate was defeated.According to them, Phukan has no right to continue his leadership in the party’s legislative body. BJP condoles activists’ death

The body of Gopi Gogoi was identified a day after it was found floating on the Brahmapputra river in Guwahati on Monday.His family member identified it on Tuesday after the post mortem at GMCH three days after he left his home on Khowang for Guwahati to attend the Narendra Modi rally.State BJP has expressed shock at the mysterious death of the its activist along with Ananta Hazarika who died after falling from a moving train carrying him back to Dibrugarh from Guwahati.
