The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) expressed concern over the killing of innocent people in false encounters by security in the name of curbing militancy in the State.
Raising voice against the fake encounter in the name of NDFB, BSS president Padmashri(Dr) Kameswar Brahma said it is a matter of concern that innocent people are being killed in the name of curbing militancy in the state.
It is a matter of concern that innocent Bodo youths were being declared as NDFB militants and killed in false encounters, he said and demanded stopped of atrocities on the innocent civilians.
The ABSU too have expressed its concern over killing of innocent civilians. He said such incident of fake encounter is not new and have happened at regular interval, he said. ‘We condemn the incident and demand high level inquiry into the incident, ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary said and demanded stern action against the guilty persons involved.
‘We want that such thing should not happen in future, he added.
It is to be mention that on 27 December a local villager Ratan Narzary of Tukrajhar Kumguri under Runikhata police station in Chirang was allegedly killed in a fake encounter after being picked from Bengtol area while he was on way back home from Bengtol market on Tuesday last and later killed in a fake encounter at Laopani (Ashrabari) area under Bishmuri police outpost in Kokrajhar by security forces belonging to 7 Sikh LI (Army) and Kokrajhar police on being suspect of a NDFB-S rebel.
Chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal yesterday has ordered to inquire into the matter by the Lower Assam Commissioner Md. MU Ahmed following wide protest.
Before that on December 10 last, a 17 years old student Bikash Narzary of Auxiguri area under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar was killed by army and police in alleged fake encounter.
Family members of both the deceased have registered cases against the killing in alleged fake encounter. They alleged that they were first picked up and later killed in fake encounter.
Dr Kameswar Brahma told that Bodo sahitya sabha delegation met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal yesterday and urged to solve various issues and problems of Bodo medium, which included creation of separate directorate of Bodo medium, filling up of teachers in Bodo medium schools in the state. He said that previous Congress government had failed to solve issues and grievances of Bodo medium education. He has expressed hopeful that BJP led alliance government will be solving problem and issues of the Bodo medium in the state.
The golden jubilee celebration of Kokrajhar district unit of Bodo sahitya sabha concluded today with two day programme scheduled at Swrang High School, Mwider Khoro in Kokrajhar district. Dr Kameswar Brahma, president of the Bodo sahitya sabha graced as chief guest, Doneswar Goyary, BTC executive member inaugurated the open session of the celebration.
Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary, BSS, writer Gopinath Borgoyary were prominent attendees on the occasion with Dwajendra Nath Brahma in the chair.
A new committee of the district committee was formed with Baneswar Basumatary as president and Bijel Kumar Basumatary as secretary for next three years.
