Homage to martyrs

Assam observed the Martyrs Day on Saturday across the state to pay homage to the 855 martyrs of the Assam agitation.

Students and many organizations thronged the swahid alters in the morning and laid floral wreaths to pay homage to those who made supreme sacrifice in the six year long agitation to detect and deport the illegal settlers.

Public meetings and other programmes are lined up to mark the occasion. The Assam government is distributing financial assistance to the martyrs family members.
Led by AASU advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattarcharya, the student organization leaders and workers paid homage to the martyrs at the Swahid Nyash Bhawan premises in the morning.

Various organizations in Raha observed the martyrs day with a day long programme. Local AASU leaders were present in the programme who deplored that even after two decades, the Assam Accord has yet to be implemented in letter and spirit.

Reports of martyrs day are coming from Lakhimpur, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Tezpur, Nagaon, Darrang, Barrera, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and BTAD areas,

Hagrama Mohilary, BPF chief, released on bail

BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. Road mishap kill 2 in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Two people were killed on the spot in a late-night road accident in Balajan Pakriguri under Kokrajhar police station. According to police, two people were travelling on a bike and met with mishaps that claimed two people on the spot at a roadside parking dumper in Pakriguri along JD Road late at night around 2.15 am on Tuesday night under Kokrajhar police station. Badminton Championship Concludes

Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. Lightning kills 3 in Chirang

At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the Bengtol missionary hospital where three persons were declared brought dead. TB awareness programme held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: For increasing the awareness about TB among pregnant mothers and adolescent girls in a meeting, Jon Andalon addressed the citizens and local health workers at Beswargaon and Guwabari Health Centres in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science Centre has been disconnected from electricity supply due to non payment of bills

Electricity to the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science center was cut off because there's an outstanding bill of 1.83 lakh. Due to power cutoff, the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science centre is currently not functional. Police launched crackdown on NLFB

Police administration have vowed for a strict operation against NLFB in Kokrajhar district as NIA has so far circulated most wanted and head count Rs. 10 lakh against the leader of NLFB M Batha.
