Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of Charaideo and its huge adjoining areas in search of the rebel groups who are believed to have been hiding with a massive blueprint. But the massive combing operation has been causing no less inconvenience for the villagers who are supposed to busy with crop cutting.
“We are brought to an open place and are not allowed to move till dusk to drown when army, police and para military forces conduct door to door search operation. The major cause of concern is the timing when we should be busy with harvesting of crops. What will we do?” said a villager who was made to seat at an open field.
Another villager told Assam Times that they are being tortured in the name of search operation. “We don't understand why the innocent villagers have to bear the brunt. Have been sitting here for five hours leaving the crops in the field. What wrong goes with us?” rued another villager in the entire area where counter insurgency operation has struck panic among the villagers.
Some others have blamed it all on the BJP led government in Delhi and Dispur for the resurfacing reign of terror. “We voted them to rule us. But never did we imagine that they would betray us like this. We elected Tapan Gogoi. But he had not visited us “ said a villager.
Same picture prevails in Lakhipothar in Tinsukia district where the common people have been facing torture and harressment.
