IAY scam: two officials arrested
Police arrested two block development officials, including a junior engineer (JE) for involved with Indhira Awas Yojana(IAY) anomalies at Dotma block development office in Kokrajhar district today. According to police, block development officials were identified as Bhuban Chandra Nath,junior engineer(JE) and Tarini Kanta Das,accountant of Dotma block development office, were arrested from block office at Dotma for involving with IAY misapropriation. They were arrested on the FIR lodged by Bimal Chandra Roy of Chitila village for IAY anomalies under financial year 2014-15 and 2016-17 in Chitila VCDC in Kokrajhar district. They were arrested for misappropriation of IAY in connection with Fakiragram PS case no. 72/16 u/s 120(B)/406/ 420/467/34 IPC, said Jiten Phukan,Officer In-charge of Fakiragram PS.
Bimal Chandra Roy, an IAY beneficiary of Chitila village under Fakiragram PS lodged FIR with police on November 3 last regarding IAY anomalies at Chitila VCDC and since then investigation was conducted and today apprehended the block officials after thorough investigation.
Block officials were involved with IAY misapropriation along the Chitila VCDC under Dotma block development in Kokrajhar and VCDC chairman of Chitila is absconding,who has also allegedly involved with scam.
‘Investigtaion is goingon into scam’,said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.
The arrested block officials were produced at CJM court in Kokrajhar and kept two-day police custody to gain more investigation into scam.
However, Das and Nath denied the allegtaion levelled against them in the scam.
