Nature camp near India-Bhutan border school in Udalguri
Aryabhatta Science Centre Udalguri district committee under Assam Science Technology & Environment Council,Guwahati organised a daylong interactive session with students of Rajib Gandhi HS and Rajib Gandhi ME Schoolat Sapangaon village,Bhairabkunda near Assam-Arunachal-Bhutan border on October 27.Students and teachers were told about the need for conservation of local biodiversity with special reference to conserve habitats smaller animals,birds,insects and reptiles like mongoose,snake,monitor lizard,owl,patrige, butterfly,bee and other locally available birds.Nature lover and nature photographer Ruprekha Goswami (Guwahati)bird expert Debanga Mahaliya,wildlife activist Jayanta Kumar Das,District Secretary of Aranya Surakhya Samiti Assam Rewati Raman Sapkata, District Media Expert,Udalguri Chanda Singh,Ismail Daimari and members of JFMC, Bhairabkunda (where people of six villages have already planted and maintained more than 14 lacs of trees) also attended.

In a very tragic and shocking incident six endangered species of Himalayan vultures died and two critically injured in Udmari village near Kalaigaon in Darrang district on March 16 due to poisoning.The incident has caused sensation in the district and everybody has condemned the poisoning of the innocent vultures. Encounter took place between a group of NDFB(S) militant and a police party comprising SP and Addl.S.P. Udalguri, OC, Mazbat PS, IPS (Proby) and other police personnel in Hatipota village under Mazbat PS last night on March 15.
