NDFB(S) cadre killed

:A hardcore cadre of NDFB(Songbijit faction) was killed at an encounter with police at Champa bazar area in Chirang district late last night.

According to Dr LR Bishnoi,ADGP(BTAD), police conducted a search operation against militants along Champa Bazar area under Gurubasha police outpost late last night where a gunfire in between police and militant outfit was held and a hard core cadre of the NDFB(S) found dead on the spot. Slain militant cadre was on way by a Tata Magic vehicle carrying bullets and arm for G Bidai,leader of the militant outfit.He said that Tata Magic vehicle has been seized.He said that police has been taking stern action against militant outfits in the region with intensifying search operation.

A total 740 round ammunitions of AK-47, a 7.65 pistol along with two live bullets, cash 3,000 were recovered from him.

After 8-day net services resumes

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. The internet service was found resumed at 9 am that saw smilling and happiness environment amongst the citizens in the region. Earlier, BTC region was made exempted from the disruption of net services from state government on December 10. However, all kinds of internet services were made disrupted all over the state on December 12 to keep the strong mass protest against the controversial citizenship (amendement) act.

CAB Row: Five protesters held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. Activists and members from All Assam Nath Yogi Students Union carried out a protest demonstration along the JD Road near District Computer centre in Kokrajhar against the CAB bill and burnt effigies of Sonowal and Sarma. The protestors staged protest demonstration with shouting slogans demanding early withdrawal of the bill. The protestors violated CrPC 144 clamp in the district", said a senior police officer.

AGP to contest in BTC elections

KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. He said that seat sharing discussion will be finalised in due time and party is getting several seats.

Social activist Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passes away

KOKRAJHAR: Noted social activist, former leader of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and close associate of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Guwahati. Journalisn workshop held

A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Goreswar lifts BTAD-Army football premier league

KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday. For Goreswar, Jegyas Deka netted first goal in 21st minutes.
