Railway blockade disrupted services

rain services in lower Assam regions along the Northeastern Frontier Railway(NFR) via Kokrajhar,Bew Bongaigaon were disrupted for ten hours today due to 12-hours rail blockade at Basugaon rail station in Chirang district and Udalguri station in Udalguri district seeking separate Bodoland state political right to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland area on Monday.

The blockade was called All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), Peoples Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement(PJACBM), NDFB(Progressive) to put pressure government for eraly solution of long standing demnad of separate Bodoland state under Article 2 & 3 of Indian constitution.

Nearly lakh activists from ABSU,PJACBM,common publics from several districts of lower Assam districts participated with banner,placards in the blockade,which was started from 5 am in the morning and passed of pecaefully by 3 pm in the afternoon at Basugaon station and Udalguri station.The blockade was reducded to 10 hours from 12 hours considering appealed from passenger and citizens of the region.

A memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Chirang Deputy Commissioner seeking early creation of Bodoland state in the region.

Several long distance going express trains were halted at different stations in the region,which included down Rajdhani Express at New Bongaigaon, 55753 up Shifung passenger at Kokrajhar.

Agitators shouted slogans like-“ Divide Assam 50/50,No Bodoland No Rest,We want Bodoland,We want justice,Bodoland is our birth right” in the blockade.Leaders from various organisation and communities thronged the blockade,which included Garo Students Union,Garo Development Council,Scheduled Caste Parishad,Bodo sahitya sabha,Boro Somaj,United Minority Council,United Peoples Party(Liberal).

Promod Boro,president of ABSU said that the students union and its movement groups launched agitational programme to put pressure government for creation of Bodoland separate state within Indian constitution to gain good governnace in the region.He slammed the BJP led NDA at the centre said that government tactically declined to take solution way while solving Bodoland issues in the state.He has urged the centre to take stern mesaures to solve Bodoland issue in earliest manner in coimng days,other wise joint movement groups will be compelled to step mass vigorous movement for the cause of Bodoland.

‘The Boro people want to live wth dignity and hnour under the provision of the constitution,for which why Boro people launched movement for separtae state since 1967 and till today students union and several organisations have been demnading eraly creation of separate Bodoland state’,Boro said.

The students union launched its first phase in 1987 for Bodoland state, hence government of India signed two Bodo Accords in the name of resolving to the Bodo people’s demnad,yet it could not be fulfilled the political aspiration and hopes of the Bodos.The ABSU and allied organisations launched third phase of movement demanding to create Bodoland state has had fifth rounds of formal talks so far with centre,but talks has no progress at all,he said.

He come down heavily on BJP party said that BJP party promised both written(manifesto) and verbal that they would resolve the Bodo problem immediately if they could come to power in New Delhi during 2014 Lok Sabha elections.They were voted to power and their regime in Delhi more than two-years now,nut fact is that there is no initiative to materialised their promise.They have stopped the very continuity of dialogue which apparently means the regime is not willing to resolve Bodoland issue and problems,Boro.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma,BTC MCLAs Rwngwra Brahma,Maoti Brahma Hazoary,Guneswar Goyary,Nirmal Basumatary were also addressed the blockade.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. On Friday, the government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) observed the third BTR Peace Accord Day as "Day of Peace" on Friday.  A massive bike peace rally was held in Kokrajhar, the "City of Peace." Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
