Wildlife week concludes

The 62nd wildlife week concluded at Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve on Friday. The concluding day of the programme was attended by noted veterinary surgeon Dr Kushal Sarma, HoD, Surgery, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara. Speaking on the ocassion Sarma stressed on the resources the national park is endowed with. He said that the inhabitants in the periphery of the national park are the one who need to keep a vigil and protect the national park.

He further said that the people in the periphery of the park are well advanced in the agricultural sector but people of the area need to educate themselves for building ourselve as a human resource. Attending the programme veterinary American surgeon Dr. Trish Lagoon stressed on the need of protecting the forest resources and protecting the endangered one horned rhinoceros . The programme was also attended by Mangaldoi wildlife divisional forest officer Sunnydeo Choudhury ,Wildlife activist Mushabirul Haque ,senior journalist and nature lover Naba Kr. Deka among many noted citizens of the area attended the event.

Fellowship on Climate Change

The Climate Group, collaborating with the Swaniti Initiative, plans to train a cohort of climate fellows in selected Indian states as part of the “State Climate Fellows” initiative.  Fellows will champion climate strategies in their respective states and push the levers necessary to align state climate goals with those of the national government. Pearl farming starts in Raha

RAHA : Jongal Balahu Garh fish farm in Raha has become the first in state to start pearl farming. The largest fish farm in the state has started pearl farming in an experimental basis in its ponds that have been earlier used only for cultivating Indian major carps.  The project was inaugurated by Nagaon deputy commissioner Nisarg Hivare , IAS , on Sunday.
