Police busted gang of criminals in Kokrajhar district, who were involved extortion served on fake for AL-QUIDA and NDFB(S) among citizens since few days back.vOn the other hand,vpolice arrested 10 Adivasi youths, who are involved violence on Friday during 12-hours BTAD bandh at different places in Kokrajhar district.

Speaking the reporters at SP office in Kokrajhar,LR Bishnoi, additional DGP(BTAD) on Saturday told that police conducted search operation at Joypur and Boro Bodeyaguri village under Kokrajhar PS and apprehended six Muslim youths who were demanding ransom from different persons of Kokrajhar and Bilashipara of Dhubri district in the name of NDFB(S) and AL-QUIDA by issuing demand notes. They were identified as Baharul Islam, Amsar Ali,Sahidul Sheik,Tofiquer Alom,Aminul Islam and Shahjahan Ali. Four mobile handsets and a country made pistol along incriminating document and articles recovered from them.He said that arrested youths were involved criminal works in the area to earn easy money and trying to create a chaos region. He also told that a NDFB(S) linkman was arrested from Taijouguri in Kokrajhar on September on 16 night.He was identified as Tefra Basumatary, who was involved extortion and money collection for NDFB(S). Police has been intensified search operations is continuous efforts and zero tolerance for insurgency as well as other criminal activities be it sympathizers, over ground workers, linkmen, and other miscreants, he said.Bishnoi said that 10 Adivasi persons were arrested from different places in Kokrajhar district who were involved with yesterday violence during BTAD bandh called by ANCC.He said that police will be carried out stern actions against criminal and militants in the region.

Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground.
