Violence mars BTAD bandh

Kokrajhar district saw a mar of violence during the 12-hours BTAD bandh called by Adivasi National Convention Committee (ANCC), demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and solving of issues of Adivasi communities in the state on Friday.

Bandh supporters of Adivasi National Convention Committee,an umbrella organization of Adivasi militant outfits, who are ceasefire with government today burnt forest nursery office at Shiljan and Dholmara beat office under Nayekgaon Range office in Kokrajhar district. A group of 10-12 Adivasi peoples come with toroal, lathi at forest nursery office and torched after vandalized with attack.

Damages included a bike, bicycle, official documents and needy materials. They also warned office staff to attack if they intimate any one about incident. Bandh supporters also attack at Dholmarara forest beat office in the morning.

Bandh supporters burnt down five Dumper vehicle at Bhumka road and two tempo vehicles at Satyapur under Gossaigaon PS on the day.

The bandh was started from 5 am,demanded early granting of ST status to Adivasi community,solution of Adivasi ceasefire militant problems and stop repeatedly eviction of Adivasi peoples along the forest area in the region. Fakruddin Ahmed, Nayekgaon Forest Range officer told that Adivasi peoples attacked forest nursery office and torched.He termed the incident was condemned and unwanted as forest office met of ashes today.

Forest staffs, who witnessed the incident, told that the Adivasi peoples come with toroal and lathi and then set afire the forest nursery office.
