Sales taxes seizes goods in Kokrajhar

Sales Tax officials in Kokrajhar seized goods which were brought by train without paying taxes in Kokrajhar railway station on Friday.

Officials from Superintendent of Sales Taxes in Kokrajhar led by Inspectors Manaj Pandey and RD Sarma, raided along the Lakmanya Tilok train(UP) bound for Guwahati this morning around 5am and able to seize huge different items of goods illegally brought by traders from Alipurduar, West Bengal cheating govt taxes.

Seized items included clothes, biri, eatable items, jug, mug, daily needy items. Traders boarded the train at Alipurduar, NJP of West Bengal and sold it in Assam markets at higher rates. They always uses it by cheating govt taxes that is why they travelled by train to carry goods for their business purposes. Market value of the seized items would be Rs.2.5 lakhs.

‘We seized the items after getting information about carrying huge goods items today morning.Traders have been cheating taxes.We seized several items,which would be tunes fine against them after verifying legal documents, said Pandey.
