Militants lost strength: Hagrama

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary termed those militant organizations in the state becoming strength less, they only trying to show their strength by planting IED or firing indiscriminately targeting innocent. Along with the rest of the country, the 70th Independence Day was celebrated at Govt HS & MP School ground with pomp and gaiety in Kokrajhar. Mohilary hoisted the national tricolor flag amidst huge gathering of public and inspects the guard of honour and salute the parade march by the security personnels and students from various educational institutions. A colourful cultural programmme was also showcase by the students from various institutions. Personals that were achieved in different field were felicitated on the occasion with games and sports were also organized among the children. People from all walk of life including local leaders, seniors citizen, school children participated in the celebration.

Various awards like Chief Minister Best Community award for development 2015 went to Arai Swmkhwr NGO. The Independence Day was also observed in different parts of the district including the two sub-divisional - Gossaigaon and Parbhatjhora in the district.

Mohilary said that militant organizations in the state have lost their strength and bases that is why they have penetrating activities like firing,killing,planting IED,explosion of bombs targeting innocent publics. He has expressed his concern over attack and killing in several districts of the state by armed militants.

Mohilary also appeals all section of the people to maintain peace and harmony.

“Armed organizations of the state have lost their strength, so they have been penetrating anti-social activities like killing, bomb planting. Militant outfits losing their strengths of which why they are taking strike activities”,Mohilary added.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
