AJYCP ups ante on BJP MLA

AJYCP has vehemently criticized BJP MLA Ashok Singhal for his recent bombardment in the Assam Assembly on the mega dam protestors. In a statement, president of the influential youth and student organization Biraj Kumar Talukdar said there might be some inside stories behind Singhal’s somersault on the controversial issue.

“Whatever Singhal said on the floor was quite contrary to his earlier position. Till the other day, he and his organization did everything possible to stop the mega dam construction along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border,” said Talukdar.

He said, “has Singhal changed his position following his secret deal with the NHPC authorities in pre-poll scene? Or has he started boot-licking NHPC at the instance of the powerful mega dam lobby in Delhi? Or was he acting at the instance of his party leadership?”

Talukdar observed that nobody has given Singhal the right to fight for the NHPC-owned project even Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal vowed not to proceed with the deal much to the major inconvenience of the people.
