No halt in rhino poaching

Poaching refuses die down in the flooded Kaziranga National Park where 3 rhinos were killed for horns during the last 24 hours. That too in the presence of forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma, who arrived in the national park on Wednesday afternoon.

Poachers have killed a full grown rhino on Thursday wee hours when a huge portion of the world heritage site is still reeling under flood.
The incident took place in the Bagori range where the forest guards spotted the carcass in the morning. Poachers were believed to have taken away the horn.
The incident took place a day after poachers killed a full grown female rhino along with her calf on Wednesday.
A section of the KNP officials has tried to blame it all on the flood. But the missing horn has proved, beyond doubt, that it was case of rhino poaching.

Hail storm hits state hard

GUWAHATI: A huge hailstorm accompanied by thunder and lightening on Thursday night heavily disrupted normal lives in many parts of the state on Friday. COVID19 patient dead in Silchar

Silchar: The state registered the loss of it's first COVID19 patient when Faizul Islam Borbhuyan passed away at the Silchar Medical College Hospital on Friday. Borbhuyan, the 28th patient COVID 19 patient, who was around 65 years of age,  shown some strange symptoms and was rushed to SMCH a couple of years back from Hailakandi. According to health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he died in the week hours since he was having some breathing problem since he was admitted to the hospital.  Notably as many as 24 patients who have tested negative a number of times might be released on Friday or Saturday.

Party stands by jailed AIUDF MLA

Guwahati: The All India United Democratic Front has stood by Aminul Islam after a lower court in Nagaon jailed the party from Dhing on Tuesday. Talking to media state party president Champak Kalita said that the party will challenge Islam's judicial custody in the appropriate court of law.  Kalita said that Islam had done no wrong and only what he said was his only apprehension and that he was arrested only because of an opposition party MLA who has been critical of the government for it's many anti people policies.  Islam was arrested after interrogation by police charging him with spreading rumour on the quarantine of some people apprehending COVID19 infection. 

SC asks for govt response on detention camp inmates

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Assam Government and Centre asking for an affidavit on a plea to release the detention camp inmates who have already spent 2 years. Taking up a petition on Tuesday,  the country''s  top court said that the issued could be settled only after considering the response from the Centre and state.  The petitioner has strongly urged the court to direct the authorities to release half of the inmates in view of the killer COVID19 outbreak which could claim their lives since they have been detained inside a room.
