A six year old girl child died after drowning in the flood water at New Banglajhora in Kokrajhar district today.
According to information, the child identify as Purnima Narzary, 6, of New Banglajhora relief camp slipped in the flood water and drowned.
Her body was later recovered.
The district administration has provided Rs 25,000 as part of the compensation.The rest amount of Rs 4 lakhs will be provided later, a senior official of district administration said.
District administration has been providing relief materials in smooth manner besides extending medical facilities for the flood affected peoples in the district, he added.
KOKRAJHAR, DEC 23: In a significant anti-poaching operation, a joint team of police and forest officials apprehended three poachers from 1 No. Donga village near the India-Bhutan border in Tamulpur district on Sunday. The team also seized two handmade rifles and an elephant tusk during the raids.
Acting on a tip-off, the team first raided the residence of Chingarai Hasda (60) in 1 No. Donga village, where they recovered a handmade rifle. Upon interrogation, Chingarai disclosed that an elephant tusk was concealed in the house of Sanu Hembrom (60), another resident of the same village.
