13th Adivasi martyrs day observed at Panery
The 13th Adivasi martyrs day was observed at Panery under the aegis of Udalguri district unit of AASAA(All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam )and Panery regional unit of AASAA on Monday.
The martyr's day marks the killings of 8 protestors who had died of bullet wounds on a 12 hour strike demanding ST status to Adivasis in July 25 in 2003 in Khusubil under Panery PS.
A rally and public meetings were held at Panery . Floral tributes were offered to the martyrs in the Shahid Memorial site at Panery where large gathering assembled.
Akhila Panthi former AASAA leader delivered the inagural speech on the public meeting.
Central Vice-president of AASAA Pradip Nag,Rejen Har,Rimis Linda along with many others were present in the ocassion and delivered speeches.
The student leaders in their speeches said "We pay our homage to the heroes and our hearts go with the families of the great martyrs,we hope such mass killing of innocent Adivasi people will not be done again. The student leaders reiterated their demands for ST status to Adivasi people at the earliest.

The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.

Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way.
