Freedom fighter, president of Nazira District Freedom Fighters Association and veteran Congressleader Subha Gogoi breathed his last at his residence at Mazenga on Thursday. He was 95 and survived by his wife and three sons.

Villagers recovered a dead body of a 16 year old girl Tuesday morning from the Nahorhabi Tea Estate in Lakwa. The girl identified as Rashmi Munda went missing since January 25 under suspicious circumstances. Villagers claim the girl was raped before murder. A case was registered in this connection at the Lakwa police station.
