Embattled AJYCP threatens massive strike
The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad is gearing up for a massive strike opposing a slew of recent decisions by Delhi and Dispur.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, AJYCP president Biraj Kumar Talukdar said that the organization will have no option but to launch a massive agitation to stop the move to auction the marginal oilfields. Taking a dig at the Centre he said,”We won’t allow it happen. Who is Dharmendra Pradhan to take the final call on the resources of Assam. If the Central minister can do these to corner the state government why should not the state ministers resign?.”
He further said that they are dead opposed to the idea of the citizenship to the neighbouring refugees. “The step will hurt the sentiment of Assam and its people. It would make the historic Assam Accord a set of invalid papers. Won’t it be a disregard to the 855 Assam Agitation martyrs?,” said Talukdar.
He further slammed the Sarbananda Sonowal Government for the failure to deal with the Raha situation where a local person was killed in police firing.
Talukdar said, “the incident should be thoroughly probed. What forced the security forces to sprang upon a group of people who came out to the streets demanding the proposed AIIMS in the area. It seems somebody’s political interest is deeply associated.”
