Bodoland vasity on throes of crisis

Bodoland University(BU) authority alleged that the university has been deprived from 12(B) status from University Grants Commission(UGC) due to non-appointment of Professors in the univeristy from government.

The university on Tuesday celebrated 20th Foundation Day with day long colourful programme scheduled at university premises with Dr Dinanath Basumatary,director of university development council in the chair.Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary lighted the lamp to inaugurate the celebration in the presence of students,dignitaries.

Daimary,in his speech said that the university has been deprived of several scheme and funds from UGC due to lacking of 12(B) status following non appointment of professors.He has assured that the university,which is the premier educational institution in the region will get12(B) status through which several infrastructural development would be gained.

“University has yet to get UGC funds due to non appointment of professors.It is becoming due to negligence of state government itself while sanctioning professors.BTC administration has been extending supports to the university.Students are taking higher education in this institution with enthusiastic.I do hope the university will usher with new look after getting professors’ appointment from government within few months”.

BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary,who is also in-charge of Eductaion department graced as chief guest.He said that BTC administration was working to uplift the educational situation in the region through providing several supports.He said that education department has been emphasizing to bring quality educational aspects so that students could be achieved their best higher educational careers.

Prof. Hemanta Kumar Baruah,Vice-Chancellore, Bodoland University told that the university is still yet to get 12(B) status due to non appointment of professors in the university from state government.The university has now 16 departments with sufficient students in all department. The university has been facing financial hardships since its inception due to negligence from government itself, he said adding that there have been no appointment of professors in all departments of which why university has so far to get 12(B) status.

‘We put pressure to the government to appoint professors in the university,but no any response was reach to the issues and demands so far in the university’, Baruah said.

He said, ‘There is no reach of development fund from state government,but BTC administration extended supports from their end,besides tecahing and non teaching staffs have also deprived two-three months salaries from April,May,June due to non release from government.

‘We are running the university at a crisis situation because of deprived of 12(B) status,for which why funds from UGC are not allotted to the university’,Baruah added.

Dr Sekhar Brahma,Registrar of Bodoland University said that the university has been facing financial crisis since its inception which has been dedicating education among students.

‘When Bodoloand University was upgraded as full pledged university,We thought the university will be getting sufficient status and situation with appointment of professors,but present situation seeing opposite. If we were get appointment of professors,then the university supposed to get 12(B) status through which UGC funds could be flow to the university to meet all aspects and environment.But,still today universirty yet get 12(B) status in its existence’, Brahma said.

MLAs Rabiram Narzary,Kamalsing Narzary, BTC MCLA Bijitgwra Narzary,principals from different colleges,intellectuals were present on the occasion.A cultural presentation from Bodo,Satria dance was also presented on the celebration which had created amusement.

KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground.
