The anger against the BJP-led Government in Assam refuses to die down. KMSS on Saturday took on the Sonowal Government alleging unwanted hike in VAT against 127 items. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said that within the short span of 45 days the government has taken a slew of decisions which would hit the common people hard. “We won’t support the hike in VAT. Till today the Centre has not released even a single paise to the state,” said Gogoi.
He said,” before the assembly polls the party leaders promised a lot. But the real face of the party and its central government has been exposed.” According to Gogoi, the common people would have no option but to bear the brunt of the much-awaited change.
Notably, KMSS has been opposing VAT hike and the move to auction 12 marginal oilfields in Assam.
