AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Gogoi meets Sonia in Delhi

Crippling dissidence in Congress finally reached party high command. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday morning at the latter’s 10th Janpath residence. Gogoi who is arriving back in Guwahati in the afternoon apprised the party president of the stepped up efforts by the dissident legislators to unseat him.Gandhi is believed to have asked Gogoi to continue. CBI nabs BRO official

A CBI team arrested a BRO official and seized Rs 15 lakh in cash from him in Guwahati on Wednesday.CBI picked up task Force Commandant Ram Milan was arrested from the Guwahati railway station. The money was actually a bribe paid by a private contractor.CBI received a tip off that Milan would be leaving for New Delhi from Guwahati. Crippling bandhs in Goalpara

Boat mishap: 2 killed

Two persons died when a vegetable boat met with a tragic mishap on the river Brahmaputra in Kamrup district on Sunday.It took place in the afternoon when the boat was on its way from Rani Chapori to Garal. There were three persons when the boat met with the tragic mishap because of a severe dust storm. One of them managed to escape death. Two others died and the bodies were fished out on Monday morning by NDRF personnel.
